If you're interested in doing this with us and were not at the last meeting (on 2/4), then email me so I can include you in the email chain in which we discuss what will be presented (if you email me, I'll also explain what we're doing in more detail than I did here).

This semester's first meeting of PRG will be on Wednesday 23 September at 7:30pm. PRG is an informal gathering to talk about half-baked ideas, interesting papers, works-in-progress, or anything else. PLEASE EMAIL US IF YOU WILL BE COMING! The current plan is to meet downstairs in Haymarket (in Northampton), but if enough people RSVP we will host the meeting somewhere else.

Phonology reading group plans to meet this semester every other week. PRG has been used as an informal place to present sound related work, do paper discussions, recap conferences, etc. What we do this semester is up to us and we can discuss what would be useful at the first meeting. Dinner always provided by the GLSA.
We've tentatively scheduled meetings for 7:30p Wednesdays (exactly which weeks we meet will be determined later). If you want to be involved in PRG and this time cannot work for you please get in touch with us.

The next meeting of PRG will be tomorrow, 11/17, at 7:30pm in the downstairs section of Haymarket Cafe in Northampton. There will be a debriefing and discussion of the happenings at NECPhon this past Saturday. We hope to see you there!

We plan to have an informal gathering at Amanda's house and we can discuss last week of class p-side related things (final projects, what happened at RUMMIT, etc.). We will of course have dinner. PRG is scheduled to meet this Monday 4/14 at Brian's place in Northampton. Instead of the usual presentation we will be trying something a little different, a "lightning paper discussion." The idea is that everyone comes with a paper in mind they have recently read to give a quick 5 minute synopsis of over dinner. It should be something you have already read for class, your research, etc. (no extra work required) and of course no handout or prepared speech is necessary. The goal is to share the important points of several papers in the time of a single meeting. I think ideally fairly current papers would be nice to discuss but anything goes.
The department is hosting prospective students this week, and there are a variety of events scheduled around their visit, including a tour of the new building on Friday afternoon. In addition:
The P Reading Group will meet at Amanda and Shayne’s place at 7PM on Thursday, March 27. Ivy will be presenting a paper.
The S Reading Group will meet at the same time at Mike and Jeremy’s place, where Yangsook will present a paper.
The S and P groups will convene afterwards at the Foundry (24 Main Street, Northampton) at around 8:30 to debrief.

PRG will be meeting tonight, February 24, at 7:00 pm in Brian Smith’s residence. According to Brian: "Parking is easiest on Fort Hill Terrace, but it's competitive". We will be hearing Jeremy Pasquereau give a practice talk for WCCFL, and there will be more delicious Thai food!
